about
The SWAAA (currently known as Hooligans Baseball) was officially founded in 2018. However, the real journey began in the spring of 2015. At that time the organizations founders were looking at the landscape of youth sports in New Mexico and realized something had to change. Too many families were being left to aimlessly navigate their child's athletic and academic pursuits without anyone to help guide them. This is when the founders stepped in and started the Hooligans Baseball program.

In 2015 the program consisted of two teams with a total of 23 kids all aged 11 and 12. Fast forward to today and Hooligans Baseball 501(c)(3) now has 18 baseball and softball teams (aged 9-18), 2 girls basketball teams, and New Mexico's only synchronized ice skating team. With over 200 participants in three different cities, it is safe to say that there was a definite void to be filled.

Sports are definitely what bring families to the program, but the kids learn about much more than how to swing a bat or shoot a basketball. There has to be a strong focus on academic performance and community service. Sports can be a great motivator and contribute to character development, but it is the classroom where today's youth are going to secure their future.

Our aim is to provide a place for student athletes to thrive!
